Step 2: Prepare Your CarYou will need an 89-05 Miata prepared to our rule set which is available here: SuperSpec Rules. Make sure to read the full rule set closely and get in touch with us with any questions. We can help you build a legal car using the least amount of time and money. If you prefer to buy a ready-to-go car, we can help you find one!
Converting a Spec Miata or similar is relatively easy. With a few engine modifications (I/H/E & ECU) you should be at or near the power cap. From there you may only need new wheels and tires to be fully legal and ready to race with us. |

Step 3: Run Speed Ventures' AdvancedIn order to run in Speed Ventures' Advanced Group, you will need to demonstrate excellent situational awareness in fast-moving traffic and exhibit predictable, courteous behavior at all times. Racing is not just wanting to go fast, it means improving your driving skills beyond where they may be now. You will be eligible for a Speed Ventures Competition License evaluation when you have run at least one full weekend in Advanced Group without issue. Drivers holding a current comp license from another organization will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Step 4: Get Your Comp LicenseArrange with the Race Director of Speed Ventures to get your check ride. This is a session where one or two DriveSkills SuperSpec Cup leaders will drive near you on track at full race pace to assess your control and situational awareness. This evaluation does not grade your speed. We want to see you maintain control at all times, keep track of multiple cars around you, adapt to changing conditions, and recognize flags while still driving quickly. Once completed successfully, you will be granted your Speed Ventures Competition License. Click here for an example of a check ride.
